Press Club Honors 2008 Wall of Distinction Winners

     The Syracuse Press Club welcomed four new members to its Wall of Distinction in Syracuse on Thursday. October23, 2008. Ceremonies were held at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center in Syracuse. The Wall, honors Central New York broadcast and print legends.
     About 60 people attended the event, which honored former Post-Standard deputy executive editor Tim Bunn, former WTVH-5 anchor Maureen Green. Publisher and editor of the Progressive Herald J. Luther Sylvahn, and former WSTM-TV anchor/reporter, Ron Graeff (Hastings).(more)
Comings and Goings
Kevin Torres is leaving WSYR-TV channel 9 where he has spent the last 2 _ years as a video journalist, to return the WWNY-TV in Watertown. There, Kevin will be serving as weekend anchor and a reporter during the week. He will also be responsible for training the station's video journalists. He'll be rejoining his mentor, WWNY news director , Scott Atkinson.

Some changes at WSTM-TV, video editor Mike James is leaving so he and his wife can be closer to family in Canada. Mike joined the station in 1996, and also served as the NABET/CWA union shop steward.

Producer Joanna Buckley is also leaving the station to join a production company in New York City. Joanna started with WSTM about two years ago as an intern. Replacing Joanna is Ginger Whitaker who will producer Weekend Today in Central New York. Ginger is a native of California who recently graduated with a Master's Degree from Syracuse University.

WCNY is launching a brand new auction November 14-16 on WCNY-TV (Channel 24). Each night beginning at 6:30 p.m. viewers can tune in to Holiday Auction 2008 to bid on a variety of high-quality items, including: Stickley merchandise, spa services, assorted gift baskets, a KitchenAid mixer, Finger Lakes wines, a MacKenzie-Childs foot stool, jewelry, toys, restaurant certificates, auto items and so much more!
